porting to defold engine.
I am porting this to the Defold Engine. As an experiment which language and engine I want to stick with on this, Nothing really wrong with Godot. I actually enjoy it. I just enjoy the lua language and the community at Defold better.
So anyway Im, not deleting the godot version its that I completed it thru first level and first 4 waves, Now I am doing the same in Defold and comparing the pros and cons of both.
1-6-2021: Defold Engine:
I created:
- main menu,
- splash screen.
- guis,
- screen transition animation,
- proxy collection transitions.
- remake of my studio logo into vector format.
Took me about 1 day after studying for a few days. I actually remade the menus several times as practice when studying.
The Defold engine is very different in what it actually does- though it seems similar to Godot. Defold functions thru a messaging system- where nodes send messages to other nodes or objects who respond to those messages do things and send messages back in answer.
Godot is about building scenes and controlling each node. AND structurally a Defold collection resembles a Godot scene.
Out of the box Godot is easier for me to learn and has more bells and whistles.
Anyway that brings me up to 6 engines I can program in: Gamemaker studio (and Enigma for linux), Panda3d, Godot, and now Defold, and LOVE2D. SO we will see who wins this battle of game engines over the next few weeks.
